“A manifesto for the cities of the future, today”: a conversation between architect Kengo Kuma and botanist Stefano Mancuso
Live from Resilient Communities, the Italian Pavilion at the 17th International Architecture Exhibition at Venice Biennale, Europa Risorse and PineBridge Benson Elliot presented “A manifesto for the cities of the future, today”: a conversation between architect Kengo Kuma and botanist and professor at the University of Florence, Stefano Mancuso. There were also contributions from Antonio Napoleone, President of Europa Risorse, and Yuki Ikeguchi, architect partner at Kengo Kuma & Associates and designer of WELCOME.
The focus of the conversation was the relationship between architecture and nature, people and the environment, and how biophilia can improve both living and working conditions.
A speech by Stefano Mancuso proved to be incredibly valuable and innovative, providing an insight into his contribution to WELCOME: a biomachine dubbed the ‘Air Factory’, which purifies indoor air and makes nature an active protagonist for change.
